Mega KitchenA vision that began in 2017 is now a reality. A new mega kitchen that can feed up to 50,000 underprivileged children every day has now opened. The project is the work of the GT Foundation, the philanthropic wing of GlowTouch Technologies, in partnership with the Akshaya Patra Foundation.

The facility will provide mid-day meals to underserved children who attend public schools in several regions surrounding metropolitan Mangalore, India. The kitchen was a dream project of the late Dr. V. Ravichandran, who combined entrepreneurship with philanthropy to share his success with others. The kitchen will cater to children in schools in and around the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi regions, reducing malnutrition and supporting quality education.

The GT Foundation’s partner, the Akshaya Patra Foundation, is a not-for-profit organization that provides the world’s largest meals program of its kind, serving more than 1.6 million students daily. The kitchen was officially christened on December 3 in a ceremony that included several local dignitaries, state and national government officials, and religious leaders.

The GT and Akshaya Patra Foundations are now pursuing another project, the construction of a new Krishna temple at Benjanapadavu, Mangalore, located near the kitchen site.
